Innovation from Mühlhausen: Huber Group wins the Industry Award 2010 / Panel is convinced by the approach to "Virtual Sensors"

The Huber Group has been awarded the 2010 Industry Award for its approach to “Virtual Sensors” in the “Automotive” category. The company is currently researching possible applications for artificial neural networks in the automotive industry, mainly in the field of sensor substitution. Various sensors can be substituted by a neural network or rather by integrating a trained neural network into an electronic control unit. The promising results in this field convinced the distinguished Industry Award Panel, making the Huber Group victorious in the “Automotive” category.

Every year the award is presented for extraordinary innovative Industry solutions achieved by companies of all scales in the industrial, supplier and services sectors. In all 14 categories a panel consisting of professors, scientists, representatives from the various sectors and specialist journalists, assess the products and solutions based on their innovation and function. The panel assesses the solutions according to a catalogue of defined criteria. This includes the innovation aspect (novelty, product maturity and future orientation) and the application (recognisable application, effect on profitability, increase in efficiency).

“We are very pleased to have received this award. Winning the award not only shows that we are on the right path in our decision to undertake innovative projects, but it is also a welcome reward for a good concept and the excellent work of our employees,” says Martin Huber, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Huber Group.
